Sew crazy (updated)

**Updated to include etsy shop information:
Some of you have asked where I got my pattern.
It's from THIS etsy shop

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE me some M@tilda J@ne clothes. If you aren't familiar with them, hop on over to their website and check out the loot. Be careful not to drool;) Anyway, like I was saying...I totally heart their clothes, unfortunately they're just a little too expensive for our family's clothing budget. Most of what I have purchased in the past is either second hand, bought off of ebay, or a few items I have are on loan from a sweet friend;)

Well, the other day I came across a pattern on etsy for a MJ-like knot dress. Now y'all, I am just a sewing novice, but still I decided to purchase the pattern and give it a try.

One thing that makes each MJ dress so unique and creative is that they combine several coordinating fabrics into each dress. While I was at W@lmart the other day I saw some pretty fall fabrics that I thought would be perfect.
I purchased what I needed and then headed home, eager to get started.

I have to say, the pattern I got was AWESOME. It was virtually foolproof, even for this sewing rookie;)
After only a few hours...I had TWO matching knot dresses for my girls.
(Oh...and just in case you were wondering...each dress cost me less than five dollars to make!!!)

They were so excited to wear their "new" dresses to church yesterday.
I think they looked so CUTE (even if I do say so myself)!!!!

I LOVE making things for the girls and I can't wait to make more!!!
Hopefully, I'll have time to make a few more for "A" before she leaves.
(It looks like she'll be heading to Florida sometime next week.)

I also LOVE MJ! My girls have a lot of it, but when I first saw the knot dress I knew I could make it too. I bought a pattern online and made my first one a few weeks ago. I love it, and it didn't cost too much. I need to make the matching pants now! I also bought Christmas fabric to make Christmas knot dresses! Your dresses are so adorable! Great job!

Gorgeous!!! Great job, Jenny!!! I grew up sewing, ever since I was like 5 years old. My grama and all my aunts were sewers and quite crafty. I sewed barbie clothes with a pattern in 3rd grade and started using my mom's sewing machine in 5th grade. But none of my peers ever sewed. I LOVE that it is coming back and that so many moms now are sewing!!! I love seeing all that you create. What a joy for your family!!! Blessings, Jenny!!!

First of all, I LOVE your blog! I have the same heart for adoption and fostering, so reading a blog like yours is a breath of fresh air! Also, I was wondering what ETSY store you bought your pattern from? I see a few different ones and would like to know which one you got!! Thank you!

Would you mind sharing the Etsy shop where you bought the knot dress pattern? There are many online and would love the one you used since it didn't seem to be too difficult. I have been sewing for about 6 years now but I still need easy stuff! Love the dresses! Adorable! You did a great job!

You amaze me with your beautiful clothes that you make for your children. I swear you are like super mama. I was wondering where you find all your cute items for your shirts that you make them? Do you just cut fabric into the shapes you want? I am so interested and I would love it if you did a post about your sewing.

You are just so talented. You could have your own etsy shop. I have four children of my own and just don't know where you find the time. I am a novice sewer myself so I love when you post your creations.
Congratulations on your marathon. What an accomplishment!

Way to go!! The dresses are adorable. I'm not familiar with that line, but love what you've done. I've sewn curtain for years (well not lately), but never felt brave enough to venture into clothing. I'm quite impressed. :)

Wow, you did a fabulous job making those knot dresses! You should make yourself one so you could match in the photo too! What kind of sewing maching do you use? And is it a good beginner one?
