I'm a big girl now!!!

Guess who took two steps this weekend?

Yes, little Miss Prissy herself!

Shane was sitting on the floor playing with her and she stood all by her self and took two steps towards him!!! Oh. my. word... was he so excited!!!!!!! Shane was so glad Sophie decided to take her first steps while he was home to see them!

She has become a total pro at walking behind her little push toy!

It won't be long now and she will be running all over the place!

So with Corban off at school, Riley and I (and the babies of course) are enjoying some time together.
Tuesday morning we headed over to my neighbors house to celebrate their sons 3 year old birthday. It was a firetruck party complete with a visit from a few firemen from our local fire station.

Riley was over the moon with excitement to see a real firetruck and to meet real firemen! He has been totally infatuated with firetrucks and firemen since we had them make a house call at our home not too long ago. (Riley fell off the kitchen counter and hit his head on the hardwood floor. We ended up calling 911 because we weren't sure at the time if he was okay. The fire truck and ambulance were here within a few minutes. Thankfully Riley was fine!!!) Since that day though Riley has been totally into firetrucks, so you can only imagine how thrilled he was to actually sit inside one!

Don't all boys just love this kind of stuff!!!

The fireman showing the kids all his gear and how it works.
I can't imagine how hot he must have been!
It was like 95 degrees outside. I felt so sorry for him!

My precious little guy!

Everyone on the front of the truck!
What a fun day and one I know my little guy won't soon forget!

1st day in the 1st grade...

Today was the first day of school!
Corban was filled with both excitement and nervousness.

We are so blessed to live right down the street from Corban's school. Being so close allows us the joy of walking to school each morning.

Literally, it looks like a parade going down our street each morning as the kids head to school.

We were so excited to find out that Corban and his best buddy
Knox are in the same class this year!!!

I can't believe he is a 1st grader!!!

All ready for a GREAT year!!!!

Goldfish anyone?

Sophie was tired of waiting on mommy to fix her breakfast yesterday morning.
She took matters into her own hands.

Goldfish anyone?!?!?

Great times---Great Memories

We all had such a sweet and special time with my grandparents from Michigan! We were so sad to have to say goodbye! We will miss them so...much!!!

My Grandparents have a total of 19 grandchildren
and 13 great-grandchildren-- (as of right now)!!
My Grandpa said it best...
"Some people are rich in money, but I'm rich in family!"

The past few days have been filled with lots of fun and the makings of good memories!

Saturday night, we headed to the Promenade ( a local shopping center) for their music on the green. They host this event all summer long on both Friday and Saturday nights.
Most Saturday evenings you will find our family hanging out there.

It was special to have my grandparents join us for the evening!

A clown was there to make fun balloon hats for all the kids.

Riley and Corban sporting their crazy hats!

Of course, Corban picked out Carolina Panthers colors for his hat!

Sophie and my sister Al enjoying the night!

Sunday, after church we headed over to my parents house for a cookout and to say good bye to my grandparents!

My sister B and my nephew Jake with Riley and me!

We had a wonderful visit and hopefully gave my grandparents a good ole taste
of some southern hospitality!

We sure do hope they decide to head south again soon!

Hi there... it's me, Sophie! Mommy said it was okay to hop on the computer for a minute and tell you all about me and my little brother. I turned 11 months old yesterday, and my brother Hudson, well he turned 4 months old. Since mommy is teaching my brothers that girls always go first, I guess I'll go ahead and tell you all about me first.

I really am getting to be such a big girl! I've discovered lots of new "tricks" lately. I can crawl (really fast) anywhere and everywhere I want to go.

My favorite place to crawl is definitely on the stairs. They are so much fun. I can't figure it out, but for some reason my mommy doesn't let me crawl on them very often! Sometimes though--- I sit and wait for one of my brothers to accidentally leave the gate open. When that happens, I head like a lighting bolt for the stairs. Somehow my mommy always catches me. She's really fast too. Oh well, I guess I'll just keep trying! One day I'll make it to the top... I just know I will!!!

I'm also good at finding things to play with that I'm really not supposed too.
Markers are my favorite!!!

I really don't see what the big deal is!?!?!?

I've been thinking that I may want to try walking soon. I can stand up all by myself now, but I just don't know about taking that first step. It seems a little scary to me! My family wants me to walk and they help me practice all the time. Well, you know what they say, practice makes perfect! I'll keep practicing, and one day soon I'll surprise them all and do it by myself!

I'm not a real big eater these days--- gotta watch my girlish figure you know! I definitely don't want that yucky baby food anymore!

My mom tries to give it to me, but I just refuse to open my mouth! I want what's on her plate!!!!! Her plate always looks so much better than mine! Even though I only have two bottom teeth, I can eat pretty much whatever I want! I tell all my friends, once you get a taste of the good stuff you'll never want to go back to that old jar food again-- YUCK!!!

Enough about me---let me tell you a little about my bro! He's four months old today! Well, to start- he's not so little anymore! He actually weighs more than me now! Can you believe it!?!?!? Crazy huh?!?!?

I've told that boy that he better cut back on those bottles, but he just doesn't listen! That guy loves to eat and he's got the rolls all over his body to prove it! My family calls him the chunky monkey! (I'm just glad they call me the princess!)

My brother got his first tooth this month and we think another is about to break through beside it!!!! My mom was shocked! She says he's just way too little to have any teeth yet. I think he's trying to copy me. I guess I really don't care-- just as long as he doesn't try those new teeth out on me!!!!

My bro is really such a sweet and happy baby. His favorite place to be is in his swing or exersaucer. When I was his age, I thought that stuff was totally over rated, and I'd much rather be held, but hey...to each their own!

He really likes it when my mommy tickles him. He's got this great little belly laugh! It's pretty cute! It's the kind of laugh that makes others laugh too!

I love to give my brother kisses.

I really do love him and I can't wait for him to get big enough to play with me. We are going to drive my mom crazy together! It's gonna be great!

I guess all in all my little bro is a pretty cool kid. I told my mom that I thought it was okay for us to keep him around for a while!

a quick thought...

I am reading the book The Remarkable Women of the Bible by Elizabeth George. Boy, is it good. I just love all of her books.
Anyway, in her book she writes... "Do you know that 50 percent of a child's character and personality development takes place by age three and 75 percent by the age of five?"

She also writes... "Parenthood is a partnership with God. You are not molding iron nor chiseling marble; you are working with the Creator of the universe in shaping human character and determining destiny!"

WOW!!!!

Some days can feel like a juggling act for me. Do this and do that. Get this and get that.
Juggle, juggle, juggle and try not to let any of the balls drop ---or in some cases a baby for that matter!=) lol

Reading this helps me remember that what I'm doing, even though it may seem trivial at times, REALLY does make a difference.

It's not really what I do, but more importantly how I do it that matters!

Wow...we as moms have such a high calling don't we?!?!?

Lord, will you grant me a passion for You and Your Word
that I may be a strong and godly example for my children to follow?

The other day I took the kids to swim at the Y water park. The kids love it there and have such a great time. We ended up running into my sweet friend, Serena, and her two little girls at the pool. It was such a special treat to swim and hang out with them for the morning! Sophie has always reminded me of Serena's little girl Alatheia. Maybe its just the blue eyes and blond hair. Alatheia was tiny as a baby too, much like Sophie. I'm not sure exactly what it is, but I just think they look so much alike.

The boys had the best time ever swimming!
Here's Corban, Riley, and Cor's best buddy Knox

A sweet visit

My Grandparents (on my dad's side) from Michigan are here visiting this week. We were all so excited to see them and have been anticipating their arrival! We especially couldn't wait for them to meet two of their newest great-grand babies, Sophie and Hudson.

My Grandparents are staying over at my parents house, so today the kids and I headed over there for lunch. It was so GREAT to see them and we had such a sweet visit.

My grandpa gave each one of the kids several silver dollars!! The boys were beyond thrilled !!!! They had never seen such big coins before. Corban asked my grandpa if that was the kind of money they use in Michigan =)lol.

We are so excited they are here, and we are looking forward to spending the rest of the weekend with them. They are planning to come over to our house tomorrow night for coffee and dessert.

Hmmm... now what should I make?

The creative juices are flowing...

I am sure the suspense is just killing y'all--- lol, so with out further ado, here is the dress I ordered for Sophie's 1st birthday!
Thanks again to all who voted! I REALLY loved the smocked dresses too (those seemed to be the over all favorites), but they seemed just a little too dressy for her 1st birthday party.

http://ny-image1.etsy.com/il_fullxfull.83957433.jpg

I just happened to stumble upon this dress the other day (on etsy of course) and fell in love with it. Like I said before, the theme and colors of the party are pink and brown. I think this dress will be perfect! It's simple, cute, and just so much fun. Her name will be monogrammed across the front!
I LOVE it!

Browsing etsy has definitely got my creative juices flowing. They have SO... many cute things on that site. I just love it! Oh how I wish money was no object.
I could seriously go crazy buying things on there!!!!
So instead of buying every cute thing I saw, I decided to try and make a few things for myself.
I just love a good crafty project!

Since Sophie got a new dress for her party, I thought it would be fun to make the boys t- shirts to wear to the party as well.
So here is what I came up with....
(and Celia...no glue gun was involved in the making of this project... lol)

Don't be too impressed. These were super easy to do!!
And the best part...I made all three of these shirts for the price of one on etsy!
I am working on a bug shirt for my nephew Jake.
His first birthday is coming up and my sister is planning to do a bug theme.

Speaking of being creative...

My sweet friend Jessica is truly one of the most creative and talented people I know! She has an online shop call Simply Ooh La La, where she creates custom products for children's rooms and nurseries. Her stuff is AMAZING and makes great gifts too!!!! Go check it out!!!!
***And just so you know...***
Jessica & her husband, Reggie, are in the process of adopting a precious baby girl, so every purchase you make helps them raise funds towards their adoption costs!
Happy shopping!

Thanks so.......much for helping me pick out Sophie's 1st birthday dress! It looks like #1 and #3 were the over all favorites. Those were my favorites as well!

I heart etsy!!!!!

Now it's decision time!
I'll let you know when I decide!
