Gingerbread men and a SNOWBALL FIGHT!

Sometimes all it takes are a few paper plates, a little paint and glue, and some socks...yes, SOCKS in order to have a fun-filled and festive day. Today was one of those days. A simple day, but definitely a sweet one;) While the big boys were at school, the little ones and I stayed busy in the kitchen. We cranked up the Christmas music while we tried out a new chocolate chip cookie recipe I found. The cookies were a HIT at this house and so the recipe was filed away as a keeper.
After a little baking, it was on to a little crafting;)

The little's each made their own paper plate gingerbread man.
(Don't they look so proud of their work)
We'll be baking and decorating "real" gingerbread men at my mom's house one day next week, but as for now, paper ones would have to do;) Not nearly as tasty--I know, but definitely just as cute!
And with thoughts of yummy gingerbread dancing in our heads, we also made an adorable gingerbread man garland to hang and display in our kitchen .
These little guys were fun to decorate and each one is unique and different.
The kids thought it was extra special when we added their own precious face to the heads of some of the men.
And since we couldn't let the little's have ALL the Christmassy fun around here, when the BIG boys got home from school, a special winter message greeted them!

Yup...a snowball war.
 In the playroom.
5pm sharp.
Be there or be square.
I know the message sparked their interest, because they couldn't get through their homework fast enough!
Once 5pm finally arrived, we all gathered in the playroom and I explained the rules of our...
SNOWBALL WAR!
How to play:
Gather up as many white socks as you can find and "roll" them into balls.
Split up into two teams and each team claims one half of the room.
Divide the "snowballs" equally among the teams
Set a timer for two-three minutes, and at the sound of the word "GO" throw your "snowballs" onto the other teams "territory" as fast as you can.
The object is to have the least amount of snowballs on your "side of the fence" when the timer goes off and the game ends.
 Make sense??
The kids begged to play it over and over and over again and I think in total
we maybe played 7-8 rounds. It's definitely great exercise and it wasn't long before we were ALL dripping with sweat. It was time to hit the showers.
So...even if we don't get any real snow in these parts this winter, I'm pretty sure the kids will still have just as much fun as we conduct mock snowball fights...
in the living room;)

Too cute! Love all your ideas! I'm filing away a lot of your ideas for when Hudson (and hopefully future kids) is older.
