A rare Christmas treat...

This morning, we woke up to a beautiful winter wonderland.

When the kids awoke, I called them each over to the window to surprise them. They squealed with delight as they peered out the blinds and a blanket of glistening white snow greeted them!! For us in the south, this is a real treat!!

Of course they wanted to suit up and head out immediately! Shane and I convinced them to wait until after breakfast though;) Getting everyone properly dressed is always a major feat. Because snow is a rarity, we don't really have the proper snow gear.

Somehow we were able dig up enough stuff in several different sizes.

They usually are a hodgepodge of accessories, but staying warm and dry is the only goal.

The kids had so much fun sledding, jumping, and running through the snow.

The snow wasn't quite snowman building material yet, but maybe if it sticks around, we'll have a frosty in the front yard tomorrow!

The babies only lasted an hour out in the elements, but Shane and the big boys were out for several hours.

Even sweet Molly thoroughly enjoyed our Christmas snow fall of 2010!

Wow, Jen, I'm proud of you for getting all YOUR gear on and going out with them! :-) I watched from the window! We need to get a sled for NEXT time this happens!! But we did try out the ski bibs...they might leave a little space around the ankles that get completely frozen!! :-)

So fun!!! Even for us northeasters, we never tire of the magic and fun of the first snow fall. Looks like you all had so much fun! Just precious. Hope it sticks around for that snowman!

Much love,
Stacy

I'm impressed you had what you did. We live in the northeast and are in the midst of a blizzard right now. Colin has no snow boots or leggings. I dropped the ball on that one!! Denial I guess LOL

Awesome! That's a memory they'll always cherish I'm sure. My kids would LOVE some white stuff around here.

so funny! since I used to live in South Carolina, my very first thought when I saw your post was. "UGH. Jenny's family always looks SO CUTE!! How in the world does that Southern girl have so much cute snow stuff?"
hahahaha!!!
It didn't look like a hodge-podge to me.... but probably because you are all so precious!
Enjoy the snow. You got more than we did!!! But after 4 feet last year... I could use a break..

Looks like so much fun. We are snowless here, but I am not complaining last Christmas we had so much snow, too much snow!

Looks like you all had a blast! We are hoping for at least one more snow day this winter! I always pick up snow bibs and snow boots at yard sales anytime I can. I know my kiddos will only need them once or twice a year and their sizes are always changing so I have quite the selection....but hodgepodge for SURE :)
Christmas Blessings to your beautiful family.

This is a fun post to see! We are in MN and just got 16 inches the other day, BUT we are moving to NC in a couple of weeks. I don't know anything about NC so I may be asking you a few questions! We are in search for a good church right now.

Great photos, as always. I just wanted to say that Molly is adorable, and one of my dogs, Abbey, has the exact collar!! Great taste, now if I only had your sewing ability :)

I live in Las Vegas, but grew up in Wyoming. I do miss the snow and playing in it, but not the cold temperatures...hehe

Happy New Year to you and your family!!!
