Monday, we had a going away party for "A" at school.
It was such a special time filled with lots of hugs and (of course) lots of tears!
She's gone now. Her grandpa picked her up late yesterday afternoon.
Oh, how our hearts ache and long for her to be here with us again!
Letting go is so hard...
I just LOVE this song written by Mark Harris. The words have come to mean so much to me as our family walked this journey of fostering. This has truly become my hearts cry and prayer for our sweet "A".
It was only for a moment you were mine to hold.
The plans that Heaven has for you will all too soon unfold.
So many different prayers I'll pray for all that you might do.
But most of all,
I'll wanna know you're walking in the truth.
And if I never told you,
I want you to know that as I watch you grow:
I pray that God would fill your heart with dreams
And that faith gives you the courage
To dare to do great things.
I'm here for you whatever this life brings,
So let my love give you roots and help you find your wings.
May passion be the wind that leads you through your days.
And may conviction keep you strong,
Guide you on your way.
May there be many moments that make your life so sweet.
Oh.
But more than memories.
I pray that God would fill your heart with dreams
And that faith gives you the courage
To dare to do great things.
I'm here for you whatever this life brings,
So let my love give you roots and help you find your wings.
It's not living if you don't reach for the sky.
I'll have tears as you take off,
But I'll cheer as you fly.
I pray that God would fill your heart with dreams
And that faith gives you the courage
To dare to do great things.
I'm here for you whatever this life brings,
So let my love give you roots and help you find your wings.

You have no doubt made a lasting impression on that precious girl. Praying for you!
I love your blog! I stumbled upon it when I searched the words foster care. My husband and I just completed our foster care training and we're patiently waiting on a placement. My biggest fear has been letting a child go, but we know we are in it to help give a child love, security, to be Jesus to them,... Your family is such a wonderful example of all of the above! I hope you take more children.
Blessings,

Beautiful pictures. I'm sure your hear is so full and yet so empty....all tied into one. May God fill your heart with His peace and love and comfort you in the hours and days to come. You were used by God "For such a time as this" in sweet "A's" life. Through you, may God have given her a foundation in Him that is strong and lasting, giving her wings to fly wherever He takes her.
Praying for you now.
This must be such a hard time for everyone...praying for you all.
Praying for all of you!
Miss A was so lucky to have you as foster parents. You clearly showed her so much love and caring that will carry with her.
I cannot imagine how hard it was to say goodbye to this sweet girl. I know that your family will forever hold a special place in her heart. Praying for you guys =)
Upholding you and your family in prayer this week, Jenny! I am sure the pain will sting for quite some time--but you all have made what I am certain is a life-long, lasting impressing on "A"! She will always remember that, even if far away from you in miles. :)
You've given "A" such a wonderful gift! One that she will treasure forever, your love! Thinking of you all as you adjust to being without her.
And such sweet pictures! I love that song, makes me cry every time I hear it, or in this case, read the words!
This was my first time to your blog, and I just had tears running down my face through this post.
What a heartache it must be to say 'see you later' but a great work of the Lord to be used in a remarkable way.
P.S. LOVE the sewing patterns you created into dresses from a previous post :)
I cannot imagine the bittersweet emotions you must have today. i am praying for your entire family...and of course for A.
hello,
a follower of your blog, shared with with me by a friend...
God has been speaking to my heart by watching your family welcome "Miss A." THANK YOU for sharing so candidly. God's using your words!!! :)
i am sure God has used you in this little girl's life and will use you again in another. i know it must be such an emotional ride both up and down, but it is not in vain.
warmly,
erika
Bless you all, Jenny!!! I love this song and agree that it is so appropriate. I will be praying for your family and for precious "A" as she transitions. I know you have had an eternal impact on her life... such a picture of how our Lord dearly cares for and watches over each of us... He divinely placed her with you for this time. How are your kids doing?? I know they will miss their sweet sister. Love you! Blessings!!!
A is the cutest little thing. my heart is breaking for ya'll...i can imagine that she was hard to let go. my parents were foster parents when i was little, and they saw first hand how hard it was! praying for you and your family!
Beautiful in every way. In Heaven it will be perfect. Thank you for showing us your courage. God be with you and little A!
Will you foster again?
I have to say A couldn't be more lucky to have spent a summer and fall with you and your family. It looks like you gave her the time of her life, and I'm so happy that you were able to do that for a sweet little girl.
Jenny~
I have been reading your blog for quite awhile. I am writing this through tears. May the Lord bless you as you grieve your sweet little "A" not being with you anymore. What a difficult path to choose. I pray your children will continue to open their hearts to others in need as well. Love is always worth it, even in the pain.
bless you!
She will have special memories for the rest of her life. What you have done for her is amazing!
Boo-hooing over here, but what a beautiful post! I love that you were able to have a little party with A's class. This song is beautiful & just perfect. Sophie would like to know if we can send A a card in the mail...
Praying that she has a wonderful life. She was so blessed to have you!
Well, now I am crying! That was really beautiful Jenny!
"A" was a blessing for you and I know that all the things she learned with you are going to be with her always.
I read your blog often and look so forward to the updates. This post brought me to tears. Your family is so sweet and beautiful and Miss A was so lucky to be with you all.
As a teacher I have had many foster children who have been in my classroom. I must say that not many of them had foster families who truly loved them the way you love your sweet "A". No matter what happens, what you gave "A" cannot be taken away. "A" knows how much she is loved by you, you can see it in her face. I pray for "A", and for you and your family who love her so dearly.
Oh Jenny, so sorry this has to be so painful. I'm crying like a baby for you. 'A' is such a sweet little thing and I know she'll always remember the amazing love your family showed her. Prayers to you all.
beautiful.
OH, Jenny. How your heart must ache.
It must be so hard to love so well, and then say goodbye. I pray for all of you, and especially that the seeds you have planted of faith will take root.
I admire your family.
Our second foster son left yesterday. We had him all 3 1/2 months of his little life. His parental rights are being terminated next week and we thought we'd be able to adopt, so his moving yesterday was a painful shock. I can't tell you what a blessing it was to find your blog. I really needed it just at this exact time. Thank you :)
