Livin' with a bunch of BOYS!

I am a true girly girl at heart. I LOVE all things pretty, PINK, and sweet!!!
That's just me and who I am.
Yet, God in His sovereignty chose me to be the mommy of THREE rough and tough little BOYS!!!!!!!

Some days I have to wonder just what exactly was He thinkin" =)!?!?!?
Now don't get me wrong...
I absolutely LOVE and ADORE my precious boys.
They are my life.

However, every day is a learning experience for me,
and every day they teach me a little more about being a BOY!

Here is my top 10 list of things I NEVER knew until I had BOYS...

1. That the word "Booger" was such a fun word to say.

2. That kitchen floors actually make perfect hockey rinks, living rooms are great football fields, and hallways are super basketball courts.

3. After playing with friends, boys come home covered in dirt, holes in their jeans, bumps and bruises on their face, and call it the BEST afternoon EVER!!!

4. Boys think crude noises are absolutely HYSTERICAL!!!!

5. That I would ever have to say the words..."Do you have underwear on?", or better yet..."No, you can NOT wear the same underwear two days in a row!"

6. How many hours of football are actually on t.v. during one weekend!!!!

7. That couch cushions and pillows are perfect punching bags!

8. That spaghetti noodles are snakes, green beans- grass hoppers, and peas are eye balls!

9. That wrestling is a way boys bond! Girls paint nails and have tea parties. Boys tackle, take each other down, and call it FUN!

10. What a safety, blitz, or bootleg mean.

My goal is to raise godly men who will make wonderful husbands some day....

Boy, do I have my work cut out for me!!! LOL!!!!

I would love to know if you have any more to add to the list...

Oh that's good. Boys are crazy and require us to make a little 'quiet time' sancuary for ourselves each day. Lately I've been dying over how emotional girls are. Stubborn too! Soph's not having much success (so far) in the potty training area and she NEVER gets her hair done w/ out a big old fit. The joys of motherhood. :) Love it though. Even though I've never met you in real life...I can tell you are a super sweet girly girl. Wish I was a little more like that. I'm a little too rough on the edges, but I'm working on it.

I'm sure I'll think of more later...but for now what comes to mind is that any stick becomes an imaginery firearm; entire battles have been conducted in my backyard with just 2 sticks!!

I grew up with 2 younger brothers and I now have 2 sons (15 and almost 13) And I am a girly girl. Go figure!

I love this post! I have a one-year-old boy who I believe is "all boy". I'm a very girly girl, too, but I'm definitely looking forward to the days where I learn all about the boy things!
I just started reading James Dobson's book "Bringing Up Boys". Have you ever read it? I'm enjoying it so far!

#9 is my boys all the time and I love it! I worried that since they were 6 years apart that they might not bond. So it warms my heart that they do!! God gave you all those boys because, with your help, they will be awesome husbands, fathers, gentlemen, and men of God!!!! Blessings!

My favorite is when you ask them why they did something (like throw a ball in the house and break something) they answer, I don't know. The funny thing about it is they really don't know. They tend to be impulsive!

Amen, Sister!! :)

In our home, everything's a competition, and I mean EVERYTHING- it's exhausting to referee them!

And bodily noises/functions, you know, all the things that make me cringe make them grin from ear to ear! And then there's the bragging about it...oh dear!

Oh how I love my boys!

I am still learning all about boys and after having 2 girls, this whole boy thing is truly a new experience for me. I just take it one day at a time, learn something new and hopefully pass on something to Davis in the meantime....

Keep me in the loop if you find out anything else about raising boys...

It sounds like you and I are learning as we go. I grew up in a house with only girls, so this boy thing is all new to me! (I have a girl who is 5 and a 3 year old boy.) I never cease to be amazed at what the boy thinks is fun or funny! Usually it is just gross to me! I too have had to say "Yes you need to wear underwear!" I have to remind myself that he is only 3...what will the future be like??!

This is the cutest post! I've kind of been a lurker (which sounds scary but I'm not-ha!) on your blog for a while but never posted a comment. I found your blog through Kellys Korner because my babies name is Sophie too and I work in adoption! I love that you have such cute, fun boys and a Princess thrown into the middle! My goal is to raise Godly women who will also make good wifes and mommies! I pray this for them everynight. Your family is adorable and seem too be busy and full of life. You have given me several ideas such as oreo turkeys-ha! You seem like a GREAT Mom, keep it up! Elizabeth

I never realized how much little boys could eat! I expected it from teenagers, but not elementary school aged boys.

Also, I never really understood how much a boy could love his mama. They are so forgiving, loving, and protective. I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world!

So true!! My family room is a football field and they are the players, all I can see is my pretty decorations being tackled and crushed... I am learning to stop saying be easy and not so hard, they were born to be rough!!!
So what's your rule for playing ball in the house?

Oh that they would rise up and call you blessed! You are the PERFECT mom for those four little men!

I've been following your blog for a long time...never commented. {that would make me a blog "stalker"?}
But I too have been blessed with little boys...the oldest of the two being only 2 yrs. old. Oh my.
They are fun. Full of adventure. Belly laughs. Laying on the floor is not an option...because you become fair game on their turf {wrestle mania}.
I absolutely love being a mommy to boy's boys. So exciting.
Your list is precious and so true.
Greetings and kindest regards from Maryland!
ps word verification for this comment is a little odd, "neuter". LOL.
