Pillow case dresses

So I have been wanting to try and make Sophie a pillow case dress for some time now. They are just darling, and I thought it would be fun to try and make her a dress for Valentines Day. I found this great blog that gives very easy step by step instructions. Then I headed to Hobby Lobby to buy some fabric. Most of their fabric's are 30% off right now! I decided if I was going to make her one, I might as well do a few more, right!?!?! I came home and while the kids were napping I got two dresses made!

The giraffe print dress will look even cuter with Sophie's name monogrammed on it in lime green!!

I definitely had my share of trial and errors going on, and I in no way consider myself a great seamstress, but I had fun and I am happy with the end result! I can't wait for Sophie to wear them! I tried them on her when she woke up from her nap and to my surprise-- they actually fit!! I had so much fun that I am going back to the store later to pick up some more fabric so I can make a few more!!

Jenny you did a great job! I was looking at pillowcase dresses online at Miss Priss Boutique and they sold these for 40-50 bucks!!! I thought I could make one! Im glad to see you had success with it! Did you use ribbon all the way through the neck or did you use elastic and then tack the ribbon on for the straps? Sophie is going to look adorable in these!!! Way to go :)

OH How I LOVE Pillow Case dresses!
My girls both have a couple! But what I like about them is that they can wear them all year long. You can put tights and a turtle neck under them for winter or just by themselves for the summer. I have a post several posts ago with my girls in theirs and Sara Ava even has capri's to match! Those are real very simple to make too!

You go, girl!!! Look at all your comments!! These are too cute. I can't wait to see them in real life! And this is the perfect idea for my two little nieces in CA. I am definitely going to make them a set!!! (I also plan to totally steal your idea and use my embroidery machine to personalize them!!!)
